The Sleep Archive

Your dreams, archived visually.

The Sleep Archive is an ongoing project collecting anonymous dreams and turning them into works of art. Each entry is a directly quoted dream submission and a visual interpretation of said dream, kept together instead of being forgotten or lost.

What is The Sleep Archive?

People around the world submit their dreams. One by one they are transformed from a fragmented memory into a complete art piece that serves to visualize and archive their dream. Dreams can be filtered and explored through the tagging system to document patterns between complete strangers dreams.

How submissions work

  1. Submit your dream. You write your dream as clearly as you can remember it. Including any details or feelings you might have experienced, or anything that seems important. You add an alias if you want. Then after indicating if you want your dream shared publicly on the website with art or not, you click submit.
  2. Creating the visuals. Your submission is added to the queue of dreams to be drawn! I will draw dreams *mostly* in chronilogical order from when they were submitted.
  3. Permanent entry. Your dream and its unique art piece are archived.

Why create a dream archive?

Most dreams are forgotten meer minutes after waking up. Even if you take the time to write a text note for your dream, its likely to just rot somewhere in your files until its eventually deleted or lost. Transforming them into art and displaying them publicly makes your dream as permeanant as the internet may be. It turns a fleeting, hazy memory into something concrete that can be looked back on and reflected on at any time.

The Admin

The archive and all drawings are created by myself by reading and visually interpreting each dream artistically. There is no automation, and no AI image generation.

Rules

  • This project is not therapy, counseling, or a helpline.
  • Some submissions may be skipped without explanation.
  • Extremely explicit, hateful, or illegal content will not be displayed on the website.

Questions

How long until my dream gets drawn?

The amount of time it takes for your dream to appear on the website is hard to predict. I am just one person working on this website. I try to complete everything in chronological order from when it was submitted, but occasionally will break the order if a specific submission is particularly inspiring to me.

Can I use my dream image somewhere else?

You can use the dream art for personal purposes ie. to share with friends, post on your personal social media, etc. No commercial use!
